Driving leather innovation: ECCO Leather develops highly progressive leather qualities for some of the industry’s most iconic contemporary designers and brands. The company has Gold-rated tanning facilities in the Netherlands and across Europe, Southeast Asia and the Far East. ECCO Leather’s production network is characterized by clean, secure and flexible operations scaled to suit growing customer needs while ensuring seamless communication with customer-designated finished-goods manufacturers.

To maintain its rich tradition in innovation ECCO Leather hosts collaborative multi-disciplinary creative laboratories aimed at uniting designers, buyers, production managers, marketers and leather technicians. These annual four-day HOT-SHOP events allow participants to envision new leather directions and work in integrated teams to prototype and sample new leather.

First established in 1991 under shoe manufacturer ECCO Shoes, today, ECCO Leather is a global company that develops over 1000 types of leathers a year and employs over 1750 people worldwide. A tannery that puts artistry, sustainability and quality before sales, locations across Europe, Southeast Asia and the Far East have achieved Gold and Silver Ratings from the Leather Working Group - the highest recommendation for environmental and labour practices.

While history dates the first tannery to 7,000 BCE, the people at ECCO Leather work at product innovations to influence the future of leather, heavily investing in water purification, sustainable processes and treatments and recycling techniques. Original leather designed and developed by the company includes Fused Leather or FSDX and Apparition, a wearable transparent leather.
