PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU) is a coal mining company that has been operating in Indonesia since 1987. Located in Kutai Kartanegara Regency and Samarinda City, East Kalimantan Province, MHU is entrusted by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to carry out coal mining activities, including exploration and production operations, based on the Special Coal Mining Business License (IUPK).

As a continuation of the operations of the First Generation PKP2B, MHU began its first exploration in 1987 and then started production in 1992. MHU's commitment to sustainable business is reinforced by the signing of the PKP2B Amendment in April 2017 and the acquisition of the IUPK as a continuation of operations in April 2022.

MHU area is located 60 km to the southwest of Samarinda, the capital city of East Kalimantan Province. The area is passed through by Mahakam River, the largest river in East Kalimantan, that flows to its mouth at the Makassar Strait.

In the beginning of its operation, MHU undertook the development of Busang Jonggon (BJO) Block. In 2013, MHU progressively started to expand the development in its two other blocks, namely Teluk Dalam (TDO) and Gitan (GTO).
