Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI) was founded in 2013 with the aim of driving responsible and sustainable fisheries activities for the well-being of fishing communities and fishery resources across Indonesia.

Established in 2013, Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI) is a leading national NGO with a core focus on small-scale fisheries. Our mission is to empower coastal communities in Indonesia to actively participate in fisheries management, harness market opportunities and improve the sustainability of their fishing livelihoods. We envision a country with sustainable livelihoods in coastal communities and effective fisheries management. Operating across eight provinces in Indonesia, MDPI has developed an unmatched reputation for empowering artisanal fishing communities, establishing platforms for fisheries co-management, advancing traceability in seafood supply chains, and implementing market interventions that yield direct positive outcomes in target communities. We are a group of field practitioners committed to driving innovative changes that can transform fisheries sustainability in Indonesia.
